The Polyaire Calendar
The 2009 Polyaire Calendar is now available. If you would like a copy please contact your local Polyaire Branch or Sales Representative immediately. Demand is always high and we run out very quickly.
This Year's Calendar
This year, given the current economic climate, the Polyaire Duck and his family decided that a trip around Australia was most appropriate, with suitable cost cutting measures like taking the old caravan. So they packed up their vintage FJ Holden and (equally vintage) caravan and set off for all parts of Australia, encountering the normal mixture of mayhem, B-list celebrities and obscure political comment and, not surprisingly, they found iconic examples of Polyaire product design everywhere they went.
The Calendar Concept
The Polyaire Calendar is obviously a marketing vehicle to keep our name in front of our clients for a full year, we make no apologies for this. However we did realise that, for this to happen, the calendar had to be interesting enough to sustain the users attention. This overlaid our design brief, along with the somewhat irreverent humour of the design team and a continuing urge to sneak in poltically incorrect images and comment from all concerned.
The Artwork
We employ a talented local Illustrator who works with the Polyaire Marketing Team to flesh out our themed ideas (When we have some) and provides us with hand drawn sketches that we then fill with unlikely action and product placement. The artist then takes these ideas and, in the process of fleshing them out on the page, adds his extra bits. This gives us the basic picture. Then our legal advisors tell us we cannot use most of the pictures because they are either libellous, poltically incorrect or faintly risque. We then hide all the disputed bits in the picture so most people don't see them (Trust us, you need to look carefully!)
Our Artist then modifies the sketches & transfers these into computer based art pieces. We then fine tune each picture via a succession of meetings (arguments) that culminate in what you see in each year's calendar. It ís a time consuming process but worth it in the end.
